Synopsis

Following an incident in a secret lab, a detective, haunted by his past, must investigate a wave of strange deaths. The bodies appear to have all of their blood drained out of them, as if attacked by a vampire. Will the police find the next intended victim in time? Or it is too late?

My thoughts

This blends sci-fi and horror perfectly to create this brilliantly wicked tale. It opens with a scientist and some security investigating the site of an escape – what escaped? We don’t know, but the intensity is high right out the gate.

The intensity doesn’t stop as it dives straight into the mystery as where we are following Detective Hendry. The mystery whilst short is nice and concise, there is a twist towards the end, which was honestly great and is what gives this story a bit of heart.

Like Rat, it has a heart, I like that about these two stories. You think you are in for some admittedly fun gross out horror but then you are punched in the face with a wave of sympathy for the thing causing the horror. I love it for that though!

If you liked this book, then you should check out the first book in the series, Rat. You can read my full review here!
