FAQs

Here are some questions that I have been asked – or anticipate being asked.

What do your star ratings mean?

Star ratings mean something different to everyone, so I thought I would explain how I rate things so you can understand my ratings better. My star ratings go up in increments of 0.25, as I use Storygraph as my main tracking app.

  • 0 – 0.75
    • Bad, unreadable, do not read
  • 1 – 1.75
    • I can see a little value but generally I would not recommend to anyone
  • 2 – 2.75
    • This wasn’t for me, but it could be for you.
  • 3 – 3.75
    • I enjoyed it but there were some issues that held it back for me.
  • 4 – 4.75
    • This was really good but one or two things were holding it back.
  • 5
    • Favourite, I adored it. I may have some slight criticisms but my love for it overpowers them.

What are trigger warnings and why do you include them?

Trigger warnings are essentially a notice that alerts the reader to certain themes, tropes and other distressing information. I include them because some have certain triggers which can upset them or catch them off guard. I want everyone to enjoy horror but I want to do it in a safe way, which allows people to read horror within their own comfort. In my past content – mainly on Tiktok – I have not included them but will going forward.

What are ARCs?

ARCs or Advanced Review Copies (sometimes called review copies if sent after publishing) are proof copies given to reviewers so there are reviews on goodreads, amazon, blogs etc, prior to release of the book. They are free and can be requested or sometimes the author will request you. To know if a review is for an ARC, you will see a disclaimer at the top of my posts, for full transparency and legal reasons. I do not – and will never – be paid for my reviews, I do not want my opinion bought.

I have an ARC or copy, I would like to send for your review, where can I do that?

You can email me, beehorrormovies@gmail.com or get in touch via social media platforms such as Tiktok or Goodreads. I will not review every copy and I will do so at my own discrepancy.
