Vampires are a tell-tale sign of Halloween, at least for me growing up. They can function in so many ways from villains lurking in the dark to heartbroken artists longing for love. So, here is my selection of vampire books you should read this year!

In the Alaskan town of Barrow, the sun sets and doesn’t rise again for 30 consecutive days. But this year a darkness rises from the cold, an evil which will feed on the sleepy town. The only hope for the town is Eben, the sheriff, and his wife, the deputy. But what will they have to sacrifice to save their doomed town?

Arnault and his trope of vampire actors have survived this long by following a very rigid set of rules. They perform every Friday, picking off members of the audience, but only enough to survive. They understand that a vampire’s survival is based on their discretion.
Their peace is broken first by a witch showing up – who connects to Arnault in a strange way – then with the arrival of Victor and Francoise De Rouvray, vampires from a different world.

Aubrey – a man of many means – is intrigued by the mysterious and enchanting Lord Ruthven. The two set off on a tour around Europe, where Aubrey learns of Lord Ruthven’s more sinister side. When the Lord is fatally injured, he makes Aubrey swear not to tell anyone of his death or crimes for a year and a day.

Robert Neville might be the last person alive…but he isn’t alone. By day, he hunts the undead through the ruins of civilization, but by night he locks himself away, barricades his home and prays tonight isn’t the night they get in.
